You were written in the stars #etherealgirl so put on those glitter boots and step out into the world!

Finding the perfect prom dress for your figure and personality....

It can be overwhelming with all the prom dresses available in 2020 online these days but it's also great that there are so many options to choose from. You can pretty much find any color, any silhouette and any size. It's just about finding that option that's going to be right for you, not what looks good on the product picture. You want to truly feel like yourself at your prom, so don't be shy about picking a unique style that nobody else might have or pairing your gown with something that's true to your personal style, as Taryn shows us with her glitter boots paired with our couture ombre ruffled ballgown. People always say that there are "rules" for fashion, but we say no faux way!

As far as fit, we believe that you can be any size and wear any silhouette, whether you have a pear shape or apple, or any sort of fruit shape for that matter. It's about finding what you love most about your body and having the dress accent that. If it's your amazing legs, then get a dress with a slit to show them off, if it's your collar bones, get a dress that's off the shoulder that'll make your neck look long and elegant. If you're not sure what you're favorite part is, just choose the part that's smallest on every woman which is the waist. Make sure that the dress has some sort of waistline or if it doesn't have one, then accent it with a fun vintage belt to draw the eye towards the waist.

Dresses: A0827 and A0890

How to accessorize the dress...

Accessorizing can really make the gown come to life and portrays your specific personal style so that you stand out in the crowd at prom. Our friends at the House of K Boutique styled two of our dresses so wonderfully and they're both a great balance of fun, youthful, and elegant. The trick is if you have a big or bling statement piece, pair it with other small subtle or neutral pieces, like the A0827 pink constellation tulle dress pictured on the left with those big statement star earrings. Or, you can accessorize like the silver constellation dress A0890 on the right, where they paired it with a stunning constellation hairpiece and small rhinestone bangle bracelet, both being pretty neutral but still classic.

It really takes a whole team in order to complete the whole vision of a collection and what feelings you want the images to evoke. - Andrea & Leo Couture

Finding that team....

The photographer really sets the stage for the editorial for our brand and we were lucky enough to work with Stephanie Williams, who we've admired for awhile. Her aesthetic is so romantic, ethereal, and light which is what our new collection truly defines. Any piece in the new collection, makes clients feel like they can float away on a cloud and let's them move easily. Stephanie always pictures the woman as she is, natural without any bells or whistles that distracts your eye from what beauty is in front of you, which is exactly what we believe that the dresses just accentuate our clients true beauty.

Setting the stage....

After discussing with Stephanie what the mood we wanted to portray was, we got in contact with the amazing florists, Of the Flowers based here in Los Angeles. They are known for there many celebrity weddings, (including Mandy Moore's recent wedding) high-end events, and their unique perspective on how to use the right textures and colors to set a mood. Using a large array of textures, sizes and colors they ended up creating this amazing floral fairytale scene fit for an ethereal princess in the back of our warehouse surprisingly! It's amazing to see how much scenery can really change the feeling and aura of a set.

Beauty coming to life....

Once the scene was set, the gowns were picked, we knew that we needed an ethereal doll to represent our client, that's when we found Jess Stewart. Her look is not only distinct but her movements and face is soft and approachable, something we feel like our clients evoke when wearing our gowns. Then to help Jess, we used our hair and makeup guru, Regina Quintana who has worked with us previously. She created such a glossy, natural look on Jess that paired well with Stephanie's photography style. To top it off, we found Erica Elizabeth's Designs, an artist who makes the most incredible handmade headpieces that matched our new collection perfectly.

We were truly lucky to work with an incredible team to make this editorial shoot so fantastic and to pull off the vision that we had for the collection and the brand. We hope that you'll keep updated with us on our website and our Instagram to keep seeing and being involved in our brand lifestyle! Kristin Reveles of @kristin_reveles and The Lovely Chica Blog talks about formal events, how to rock the best style and how it's always best to be overdressed!

Kristin Reveles came to us looking for a formal gown for her step-son's wedding in Guanajuato, Mexico. She came to us with a general color palate that the bride requested her to wear and we started trying on styles....

“Dressing up is one of my favorite things to do for events and sometimes I may over do it but I always say it’s best to be over dressed then under dressed for an occasion." Kristin Reveles

Finding the perfect silhouette....

Sure, the color was a great starting point, and one that many end up starting out with, but where do you go from there? Of course, every body is so different but we truly believe that there is a gown for every woman with any kind of body type. With Kristin, she naturally doesn't have a lot of curves besides her bust so in order to make them, we put her in a mermaid gown that gives her the illusion that she does have them. That's what its really about in the end, is accentuating what you love about yourself and then creating the look that you want, to make it really work for you.

How do you know what is too formal?

Kristin believes that it's proper etiquette at an event that specifies formal-attire on the invite, that you do wear a long gown. The type of gown you wear will depend on where the venue is going to be and what season of the year it is. If it's more of a summer, outside beach venue, then we would suggest a light and flowy chiffon gown but if it's more of an inside winter ballroom venue, then you can go with more of a fitted or beaded gown. Like Kristin says, it's always better to come a little overdressed than wanting to hide in your car wearing your jeans and tee!
